In 2020, Khoshnaw Company took a historic step in the food industry in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq by establishing "Das Company" in the city of Erbil. This is a large-scale project for marketing wheat, known as "silo," and the Das food products factory.
As the largest silo in Kurdistan and Iraq, and one of the four largest silos in the Middle East in terms of storage capacity and its ability to produce flour and other food products, these silos initially have the capacity to store over 100,000 tons of wheat.
In addition, 13 parallel factories have been established, producing 3,000 tons of various wheat products daily, such as flour, semolina, pasta, biscuits, and animal feed.
This project holds immense importance for the development of the agricultural sector in the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, bringing significant benefits to farmers while also creating job opportunities for the younger generation.
The main goal of Das Company is to reinvest the critical capital that was previously being spent abroad. In doing so, it seeks to revive the local economy by producing high-quality domestic goods.
This step is not only crucial for economic development but also provides strong support for achieving self-sufficiency and food security.
Undoubtedly, this project is a prominent example of implementing a strategy that can have long-lasting impacts on the economic and social foundations of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq as a whole.
